I was selected as one of the Grand Marshals of the Amp Energy 500 at Talladega Speedway. Besides giving the command to “Start your Engines”, my father and I were treated to a great VIP experience including spending time with Dale Earnhardt Jr.
This trip was actually the first trip I won by a mail in entry. I sent 10 entries into a local sweep, that you could also qualify for by being the correct caller. I figured this would give me 10x better odds than anyone that won by phone and it worked.
During the weekend we had access to hospitality, pit road, the garage area, driver introductions and attending special driver events with Earnhardt, Jeff Gordon and Bobby Labonte.
We attended the truck race and the main race on Sunday.
