Presenting the pole and award and meeting Danica Patrick

This trip was the result of picking where Danica Patrick would finish in every race the year before. The prize was the trip and presenting of the pole award which Will Power won. He also went on to win the race.

The highlight of the trip actually came because the race was rained out and pushed off to Monday. Before it was official called off for Sunday we had went back to the hotel with the representative from the Sponsor who was good friends with Danica Patricks parents. Our host invited them to come hang out in the lobby while we waited out the storm.

They came to join us and almost every driver came back to the hotel at some point, stopping to say hello to their parents, some chatting for a bit with us. A.J. Foyt even stayed with us for at least an hour. As the afternoon drug on, we started to get hungry and ended up going to dinner with her parents, just the four of us and had a fantastic time talking about everything from racing to our jobs to the very real possibility of Danica making the switch over to NASCAR.

After dinner we headed out with a few members from various pit crews and driver James Hinchcliff. We had a great time and didn’t want the night to end.

The next day, we enjoyed the race from one of the hospitality suites right at the start/finish line. After we were even able to stop at Disney for lunch before flying home.
